Cultural Action of Troizina
Upon its foundation, Katheti set as a priority and as an objective, among others, to support people and actions intending to develop the area by strengthening the cultural, artistic and educational communities. Driven by our rich cultural heritage, we support and promote those intending to share their knowledge, but also to get to know the wealth of our culture in our local community. One of our main goals is to support and promote the cultural tradition of the area. With the aim to highlight the cultural life of Troizina, Katheti visited the association “Cultural Action of Troizina” and spoke to Litsa Drosinou, the chairwoman of the union, whose interview you may find here.
“Cultural Action of Troizina” was founded in 1979 and is housed in the Municipal Office of Troizina, in Troizinia province. Upon entering, the first thing one sees is the bust of the warrior bishop of Damala Jonas, at the entrance.
On the second floor, the permanent folklore exhibition of the association is being hosted. Costumes, a loom, a wedding bed, a chest, cookware and meticulous details, enabling the visitor to travel to that era.
Exhibition of historical material from the 3rd National Assembly
Since 2014, among the significant actions of the association, is the permanent exhibition of material from the 3rd National Assembly. A significant landmark of our national and local history. It contains documents regarding the 3rd National Assembly, the constitution and the proceedings, and depictions of the participating heroes. Finally, one of the association’s immediate objectives is the erection of a 3rd National Assembly monument. The monument will be accompanied by the bust of Ioannis Kapodistrias, which for now graces the space of the exhibition.
The Cultural Action of Troizina also holds a library with 1,000 books from donations by residents of Troizina and the municipal libraries of Peristeri and Aigaleo.
