Music composer Domina Monriel’s world-wide project “Art unites us all” was completed with a video published on May 16th, 2021. Five local artists participated, through Katheti: local painters and students from our Online Painting Workshop.  

Domina Monriel talks to us about the project:

“’Art Unites Us All is an international multimedia collaboration of 210 artists worldwide that illuminates the ways in which art, despite turbulent times, borders, and personalities, unites us all. 105 Professional musicians from the UK, Spain and the USA, as well as students of the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, to mention but a few, have videotaped and recorded themselves playing my original composition “Atenes”, in tandem with 79 dancers’ videos (eg. from the Harvard Ballet Company, the Athens Conservatoire, the soloist with the New York City Ballet Jovani Furlan, and others) performing on the musical piece. To the unification that art inspires, add 26 photographers and painters with their pictures and paintings, together with short videos featuring esteemed personalities (eg. the world-famous director Kim Krizan) combined to artistically express “what art means to them”. The final video premiered on our official YouTube channel on May 16^th, International Day of Living Together in Peace. Additionally, the project is supported by 7 organizations, amongst which is the Arts Council Greece, International Independent (UK) and the International Independent Creative Industries Council (Belgium).” Katheti highlights and supports the creativity of Poros, Troizinia and Methana. With activities such as the Painting Workshop and the group exhibition “Bridges”, as well as related articles like “Local visual artists” and “Books with a local flavor”, Katheti aims at promoting the cultural tradition of our area.
