“Bridges” album
“Bridges” album includes in its pages everything represented by the namesake visual arts exhibition, which was hosted at Douzina’s building on Poros, from June 18th to September 30th, 2021. Nostalgia and acquaintance with the area and its culture, as well as with the work of Katheti in general. The visual exhibition “Bridges” aimed to highlight the area and its evolution; to connect everything that the past generations created and bequeathed to us with the present and our daily life. “Bridges” album is a memento for those who visited the exhibition and a valuable collection of local artists’ works for those who didn’t have the opportunity to see them up close. You can acquire it at the price of €25.
Today…
“Bridges” album is a high-quality publication in Greek and English language. It hosts in its pages the works of all the painters and photographers who participated in the visual arts exhibition. It also includes artists’ testimonies about how they saw the project and how they chose to illuminate certain beautiful corners of our area. And of course it includes a short bio of the artists, so we can get closer to these people who give their soul every time they create.
…yesterday…
The old photographs of our area couldn’t be left out of the album’s pages. They are photos that are valuable in all aspects. They could be considered historical relics, with condensed information about past eras. They are the part of the bridge that stands in the past and connects us with our roots. And of course in the album, there are two distinct corners. One belongs to the collector Giannis Antoniou. A man who has devoted a lot of time to collecting historical photographic material, and has provided a part of his collection free of charge for the purposes of the exhibition. The other corner belongs to one of the most important photographers of our area, Georgios Moraitis, who has left us his photographs as an important legacy. .
..and tomorrow
“Bridges” album was created with the aim to preserve indelible in our memory an event that welcomed more than 2,500 visitors. You can acquire one for your bookshelf and, at the same time, help Katheti’s purposes.
