Katheti invites people of all ages who live in the area and would like to learn Greek but do not have the financial means to its free Greek language lessons.

Katheti’s free Greek language lessons to immigrants and immigrant children continue for the fourth year. The courses will be offered by three volunteers of Katheti. They are addressed to people who do not speak the Greek language and have limited financial means. If conditions allow, they will take place in the space of Katheti, in Galatas, unlike last year, when, due to the measures against the pandemic, were offered online.

Greek language lessons are offered free of charge to all members of Katheti. They start in October in classes of maximum five people. The days and hours of the lessons will be determined in agreement with volunteers and students.

With the Greek language lessons, Katheti offers the opportunity to students of all ages from different countries and different cultural backgrounds, to integrate more smoothly into the local community. This works to the benefit of both themselves and the local community, and especially the school community.

The volunteers, in addition to the pleasure of offering, acquire experience in teaching Greek as a foreign language. They also become familiarized with specially written for this purpose handbooks, such as “KLIK Sta Ellinika” and “Επικοινωνήστε Ελληνικά”.
