Indian Evening

7 March 20
A journey into the cultures of the world begun at Katheti. On Saturday March 7th, at 6-9pm, Katheti casted a line in India. An Indian Evening, dedicated to its cuisine, music and history took place at Katheti in Galatas. Three hours dedicated to India. We enjoyed its food, listened to music, learned parts of its story and got to know its people. How many colors can fit into a food dish? How many fragrances can come up from a kitchen? How much love does a melody hide? The Indian Community in our region and in Greece in general is quite large. Katheti in the past three years, has contributed to the smooth integration of Indians into the local community by offering free Greek lessons to immigrants of all ages. This project has gradually developed from two adolescent Indian students, who started three years ago, to a total of 16 students of all ages from four countries.

“The ultimate goal of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” Sydney J. Harris

Katheti’s goal is the smooth integration of these people, thanks to the knowledge of the Greek language. We consider it a success that the Indian community embraced and trusted us. In addition, its members, from mere observers in the local schools, managed to become active participants in the school curriculum, make friendships, work and socialize more. Katheti thanks her students, younger and older, for their trust all these years and dedicated an evening to them. An evening dedicated to the fascinating Indian culture. To a colorful country with intriguing music and incredible cuisine.
