Invitation to participate in a collective exhibition. Katheti – “Bridges: When the Past Meets the Present” June 2021-September 2021

Katheti, in collaboration with Facebook groups “Μέθανα παλιές φωτογραφίες” and “Poros, old pictures“,  invites all artists from the area of Poros and Troizinia-Methana to express their interest for participating in a collective exhibition on the theme “Bridges: When the past meets the present”.

About the theme:

The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the area and its evolution through the eyes of its photographers and painters. To create artistic “bridges” that will connect the past with the present and will leave a beautiful and optimistic sentiment for the future. Bridges that will connect Poros, Troizinia and Methana.

Artists are invited to choose the photo of their preference through a large collection covering the period 1870-1970. To recreate it artistically, giving their personal testimony and maintaining the same angle. The personal point of view of each visual artist is fully respected and definitely desired in the exhibition.

So, let’ s create our own artistic bridges.

Let’ s make the best artistic use of the area’s evolution.

Information:

The exhibition will take place on the ground floor of the Douzina family building, next to Cine Diana. In the exhibition, the contemporary creations of the artists will be placed next to the old photographs from which they were inspired. Participation in the exhibition is completely free of charge. The artists will cover the cost of the materials they will use. The projects they will create should have a maximum dimension of 50×70 cm.  

Express of interest:

To be included in the selection process for participating in the exhibition, you need to send us a work sample, which doesn’t have to be connected with the exhibition theme.

Interested photographers and painters are invited to send their contact details and samples of their work to info@katheti.gr.

The number of participants is limited; the final selection will be made by Katheti’s team after evaluation.

If you are selected, we will send you an archive with old photos of the area, from which you can choose the one you would like to depict. Katheti will have already made a first selection of photos from the period 1880-1980.

All the photographs that will be sent to the participants belongs to the collection of Yannis Antoniou and Christos Vikos, adiminstrators of the Facebook groups “Μέθανα παλιές φωτογραφίες” και “Πόρος παλιές φωτογραφίες“. The two collectors have offered their collection gratis to be used for the exhibition and we are grateful to them for that!
