Katheti’s Lending Library-Reading Space awaits you with classic literature for adults, adolescents, children and non-Greek-speaking bookworms. As a member of Katheti, you can enjoy many of our books at our cozy space, at home, at a café, or wherever you prefer.

Book-lovers, are you looking for classic books that you don’t have in your library and you would like to read? Do you want to share your love for reading with other people and exchange preferences and ideas for new literary travels? Are you just looking for a warm place to drink your hot or cold beverage enjoying your beloved habit? Children, would you like to get lost in the magic of a fascinating book? To identify with heroes and heroines just like you or a bit different, to experience adventures and let your imagination travel to distant places and times? To enhance your language skills in an interesting and easy way? Parents, do you love reading and want to pass your beloved habit down to your own children? Are you looking for classic books, that your childhood is linked with, in order to “introduce” them to your children? Do you just want to offer them an alternative form of leisure activity as well as language training? Teachers, are you looking for material for your lessons? Are you searching for texts, ideas, alternative forms of transmitting knowledge to your students? Are you just bookworms yourselves? If you belong to any of the groups above, Katheti’s lending library-reading space awaits for you! Even if you haven’t yet been “addicted” to the miracle that is called a book, however, think about it: maybe it’s the best gift you could give to yourself. Katheti’s lending library-reading space will link its operation with many events and activities: Reading Group, local history workshops, story-telling, book presentations, volunteer readings to people with sight difficulties, etc. Bring your own ideas as well! Travel with books of six categories:  

Translated literature

Great authors, such as Saramago, Umberto Eco, Proust and Kafka. Writers, philosophers, poets, including Nobel laureates; our library hosts a large part of their work and you can take wonderful literary trips with them.  

Greek literature

From Vincenzo Cornaro’s “Erotokritos” to Menelaos Lundemis’s “A Child Counts the Stars”. Books that have captivated so many generations, as well as critically acclaimed authors like Kazantzakis, Vrettakos and many more. The wonderful classic Greek literature, gathered in Katheti’s Library-Reading Space.  

Young adult literature

Julius Verne, Charles Dickens, and many great writers with whose novels we traveled in our teen years are on the shelves of Katheti. Adolescent readers have the opportunity to go through emblematic works of older or more modern times and discover real literary treasures.  

Children’s books

Classic fairy tales, myths, short stories of well-known writers, even Shakespeare. We dedicated our shelves to classic children’s books. Discover the world of books with them. Let them wonder in the magic of a good book, teaching them to love them.  

Non-Greek language literature

For Katheti’s foreign friends, we created shelves with non-Greek language literature. Mainly English language books are waiting for you to read them, in Katheti’s Library-Reading Space.  

Local area books

Books about local history or geography, even literary books written about the area. For those who want to get to know this place through the eyes of well-known and local writers. This collection, that you can find here, was created thanks to donations of the Poros Public Library, for which we personally thank Mr. Yiannis Maniatis, and local people, to whom we are grateful, and we hope we can enrich it further with your contribution. Katheti’s Lending Library-Reading Space is waiting for you to travel with it. Let’s read some iconic books. Let’s discover new and old worlds together!
