Katheti is organizing a two-day webinar for local entrepreneurs. It will be delivered by Angela Makri Dekoulou on January 22nd & 29th, 2023 from 17:00 to 19:00. The participation fee is 20 euros for Katheti’s members and registrations until January 8th. For non-members and registrations after January 8th, the cost is 30 euros.

The current status

According to the European Central Bank’s (ECB) SAFE report, in 2020 only half of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (0-249 employees) turned to the banking system for financing. Only 30% of these managed to get their loan approved. In other words, in total, only 15% were financed by the banking system. Among the main reasons for the rejection of the applications, were the failure to
meet the standard banking criteria, as well as the absence of a viable business model and plan.
Furthermore, according to the report “Financial Management of SMEs: Financial Education and Small Business” by the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants, responsibility for the current level of efficiency of SMEs lies, among other things, with the entrepreneurs’ low level of financial literacy, which creates obstacles against innovation, updating and competitiveness.

The Entrepreneurship Webinar will provide knowledge needed to create a successful business or improving the performance of an existing one. is addressed to all entrepreneurs, as well as to those who wish to “do business” in the future. We will learn, among other things, the basic financial thinking for creating, evaluating, operating, improving or even changing the purpose of a business. Terms such as: Fixed and variable costs, Break-even point, The 5 forces, S.W.O.T. Analysis, Business Plan, Budget and Account, are essential knowledge for all entrepreneurs. The practical exercise, which will take place during the webinar, will give everyone the required ability to operate their businesses more efficiently and organized. The webinar’s aim is to provide the necessary knowledge to those who are interested so the will be able to evaluate and create a business, to draw up the successful targeting of their businesses, to reduce the risk of their operation, to increase the possibility of financing and to improve their performance.

The instructor

Angela Makri Dekoulou has studied Business Administration at the Advanced Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus, Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business and has specialized in Investment Evaluation and Financial Management at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She believes in Lifelong Learning and when she moved to Poros, she considered the knowledge of Tourism Business Management as necessary. She obtained this knowledge by attending the namesake training program at the University of the Aegean. In 1983 she was hired at Emporiki Bank where she soon became a Manager and became a member of the Bank’s training seminars as an instructor. Today, she teaches Business Administration, Human Resources Management and Total Quality Management at a Private College based in Athens.

Katheti supports local entrepreneurs and all those who seek to broaden their horizons and acquire new skills. Its intention is to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge that facilitates the prosperity and development of our economy. As part of this effort, Katheti has adopted a versatile approach.
