Litsa Drosinou talks to us
The chairwoman of “Cultural Action of Troizina” Litsa Drosinou talks to us about the association’s work and her civic engagement. Litsa Drosiniou is 34 years old, and lives and works in Galatas. She has studied Practical Nursing at the General Hospital of Nikaia and is an active member and elected chairperson of the cultural association.
Tell us about your job.
The Association is not a job, it’s a passion and contribution to our local area. Our Board consists of 7 members. The Association’s goal is to highlight Troizina’s cultural heritage, as well as the 3rd National Assembly. Our association is housed in the Troizina Municipal Office, where an exhibition of the history of the 3rd National Assembly and a folklore exhibition are available. The Association occasionally organizes several events, trips and bazaars. All these endeavors are realized with the sacrifice of our own free time, as all Board Members are working elsewhere.
What’s your relationship with your area like?
I’m born and raised in Troizina. In the last few years, I’ve been living and working in Galatas.
How have your work and life been impacted by the financial crisis initially and now by the public health crisis and how are you dealing with it?
Both the financial crisis and the public health crisis have affected our everyday life. As for the Association, it is not affected much, due to the fact that its contribution is really small. The only thing affected is the cancellation of some scheduled events because of the pandemic, the revenues of which would contribute to the erection of the 3rd National Assembly monument, which we are trying very hard to realize.
Which knowledge and traits of yours have proved to be more useful to your job?
Undoubtedly, any field you are engaged in requires the expected knowledge. If you don’t have it, you need to acquire it, and if you have it, you use it, as well as develop it.
What would you like to improve in yourself and your work? Which are your shortcomings or disadvantages and how have these affected you?
World, times, technology keep moving forward. Whether we like it or not, we do too. Always having the best in our mind, both on a personal and a professional level.
What would you do differently and what do you think you have done very well in your career path?
If nothing else, mistakes always happen. Looking forward, you try to fix them by taking a quick glance at the past.
What kind of advice would you give to a young person if they wanted to do what you do?
Occasionally, getting involved with the local community is something that fulfills you, not only for your local area but also in regard to its history. In essence, it’s a matter of will. If you want to make a contribution, then yes, start working.
Which are your plans for the future, now and later on?
The bet the current Board has set is the realization of the 3rd National Assembly monument. As for future plans, I can’t say for sure; there are several thoughts, always with regard to highlighting our cultural heritage. Time will tell…
