Cultural Association of Agios Georgios
One of cultural associations’ roles is to act as magnets for the members of a community. The Cultural Association of Agios Georgios does exactly that. It was founded in 2011 with the aim to attract the settlement’s youth, as well as to strengthen the whole community’s ties through its actions.
The association’s chairman Giannis Fotakis tells us: “We started with a lot of love and we continue with love, although the effort is hard.” Katheti recognizes that it takes persistence and love in order to succeed in such an endeavor. That’s why we support all those people who, through their actions, enhance the local cultural life.
Gymnastics, dance and volunteering
The Cultural Association of Agios Georgios, in its 11 years of operation, can show important initiatives for the community.
In the past, it supported fitness classes and it has organized decoupage classes. The association also participated with a kiosk in the Saronia festival, exhibiting its creations and donating the proceeds to charity.

At the moment, it continues to uphold folk dance classes.
Also, the association’s members offer voluntary work every year, cleaning the coast near the settlement of Agios Georgios. In addition, they participate as volunteers in the organization of sporting events, such as the Pantroizinian Games. And of course their activities do not lack excursions and entertainment.

Annual festivals

Every summer, on the first Saturday after August 15th, the Cultural Association of Agios Georgios organizes a two days event, Pogonia, with various happenings.
It participates in the national holiday’s events and the Epiphany, as well as in Christmas events that are organized in the wider area.

On Tsiknopempti (Fat Thursday) and Clean Monday, the association’s members and friends maintain the tradition, with dancing, food and immense zest.
The Cultural Association of Agios Georgios is a cradle of culture, environmental awareness and entertainment for the settlement. Katheti supports local associations and initiatives that promote culture and protect the environment. Such examples are: the Cultural Action of Troizina, the Cultural Association of Galatas “Friends of Tradition”, the Association of Parents & Friends of People with Disabilities “Agios Kirikos”, the Cultural Association of Poros Women “Poriotissa”, the Association of Troizinians living in Athens and Piraeus and the Hatzopouleios Municipal Library of Poros.
