Play and Explore Poros with “Sokakia”
A different way to explore the island
This summer, Katheti organizes and offers “Sokakia”, an adventurous, fun game for those who visit Poros. The “Sokakia” game is a different way to explore the island. It will take place from June to September on the wonderful alleys of Sfairia. Play and explore Poros and get the opportunity to visit and photograph main landmarks of the island, while they wander around the alleys. This activity, apart from the actual game, includes a beautiful hike from the old windmill (Milos) to Ag. Anargiri, a lovely small chapel with an amazing view of the Saronic Gulf. The participation cost is 20 euro per person for teams of 4-10 individuals, 15 euro per person for teams of 11-20 individuals, and 10 euro per person for teams of 21-30 individuals.
The alleys of Sfairia
The alleys, what an amazing place to get yourself lost! Alleys that some locals have used for their entirely life. Where kids used to play hide and seek or even soccer. Alleys leading to the main port road and few others leading to high hills, offering a panoramic view of the island, as well as the Peloponnese. Alleys that might take you weeks if you try to walk them all. Alleys with hidden stories, that worth a visitor exploring them any time of the year.
The “Sokakia” game
The main idea of the game is to find yourself lost in the alleys of Sfairia. Play and explore Poros, meet local people and reach your next destination by using a different alley each time. The teams receive a papyrus, which includes the game instructions, rules, riddles that the players have to solve, and the map of Sfairia to help them orientate themselves. All teams will end up at Agios Thanasis church, after wandering around some of the main landmarks of Poros. This is where each team has to solve the toughest riddle, which most of the times gives them the winning points. Afterwards, we will all walk together to Ag. Anargiri, where this beautiful experience will be completed.
Why don’t you give it a go? Wander around in the alleys of Poros, trying to find your way out by solving the riddles? If you want to play “Sokakia” contact us at info@katheti.gr or +30 2298043825
Katheti created and offers the Sokakia game because it is a different way to explore the island. In the recent past, Katheti offered the game to a group of young Belgian scouts and a group of scientists. Outdoor activities like the Sokakia game and the 1st Methana Crossing enable visitors to get to know and create bonds with the island. This in turn contributes to the development of sustainable tourism.
