Support our work

Katheti offers its services to the inhabitants of Poros, Troizinia and Methana free of charge or at a cost price. Here you can learn more about our mission and goals. Support our work. Share in our vision for the area’s sustainable development.

What we did in 2021

Such a difficult year, due to the pandemic, but also so full!

We organized the exhibition “Bridges”, thanks to which we gave 2,500 visitors the opportunity to get to know our area and 14 local visual artists.

We designed a sustainable tourism development strategy for the area as members of the Ec(h)o consortium, along with the 37 Project Resound volunteers from 9 U.S. states and 14 other countries.

vagionia beach cleaning 3

We did 4 beach cleaning and waste recording actions, on Vagionia beach of Poros and Agia Sotira beach of Galatas, as part of the citizens science program “Adopt a beach”.

With the collaboration of Poros Municipality, we supported the areas affected by fires, activating 300 of our fellow citizens, who offered more than 300 bags/boxes with basic necessities and 120 kilos of animal feed.

We theatrically recorded our area and touched over 200 Greeks and foreigners, making them laugh and learn about the region with the documentary-theater performance “Passage”.

We highlighted the local area with 3 new webpages and 12 new articles about local sights and activities, local products and local arts

We facilitated the professional and personal development of local residents with seminars/workshops (Digital Marketing, Soft Skills, School Mediation, Painting Workshop, Theater Workshop), and with career guidance, coaching, mentoring and career counseling services.

We organized the Christmas Ornaments Workshop. A four-hour event for children, with original handcrafts made of simple materials.

We participated in conferences, we networked, we came in contact with people and organizations with whom we share the same values, we exchanged practices and ideas.

In order to keep on providing free or at low prices, and even increase our services, we need your help. You can support our work in several ways:

Membership

Since the beginning of our membership program in the autumn of 2020, approximately 100 people have become Katheti’s members and enjoy members’ privileges. You can become Katheti’s member, with an annual memberships fee of 20 euros for adults and 10 euros for children and unemployed people. As a member, you get a membership card in your name, priority in all our activities and the privilege of borrowing books from our lending library. Come by Katheti with your ID to receive your membership card and access the privileges it provides!

Donation

Support our work with a donation. We are grateful for every amount you may offer. Indicatively, in the following options, it is mentioned what we can achieve with a single donation:

  • With a donation of 200 euros, we will buy a tablet for use by our students and volunteers at our space.
  • With a donation of 500 euros, we will cover a lecturer’s fee for a professional skills seminar for local residents.
  • With a donation of 1,000 euros, you will contribute to the translation of Kosmas Politis’s “Lemonodasos” into English by a professional translator.
  • With a donation of 2,000 euros, we will organize another exhibition that will highlight our beautiful area and its artists.

With every donation of 25 euros or more, we offer you a handmade black canvas bag for your shopping, with Katheti’s logo embroidered in hand, by the weaving workshop ERGANI. Or the elegant album “Bridges”, a collection of artworks by contemporary and old artists, which participated in the namesake exhibition. With a donation of 200 euros or more, we give you both.

YouBeHero

Another way to support Katheti’s work, without any extra charge for you, is through YouBeHero. YouBeHero is an online platform that serves public benefit organizations. With a simple registration, you choose the organization you are interested in supporting. You make your purchases online through the platform and the stores from which you shop donate a percentage of the purchase amount to the organization. So, all you have to do is sign up here and choose to support Katheti. Then, with each of your online purchases, you’ll help us achieve the goals we’ve set on the platform.

Volunteering

You can also support our work through volunteer work. Volunteering is an integral part of our operation and without it we would not be able to carry out the work we have undertaken. Every member of the volunteer team has contributed significantly to what we are trying to build in Katheti. You can read more about volunteering at Katheti here and fill out a volunteer application form here.
