Testimonials for Katheti’s activities for 2018-2019
Katheti has offered unique experiences to locals and visitors alike –and this is not something we have come up with! Please keep reading in order to see how persons who joined our activities spent their time around us.
October 2018
In October 2018 I voluntarily participated in the preparation of Crash Smallville performance. It was a highly interesting initiative, truly unique and well-organized. The result was exceptional and as a spectator I had the chance to experience an interactive performance, as a really interesting discussion with the organizers, the participants and the audience followed the end of the performance.

During the seminar on culture shock and intercultural communication] we explored various interesting aspects which make up multiculturalism. By sharing personal experiences and through simple and funny experiential exercises, we understood how many unique cultural aspects surround us without even us suspecting it. As this topic is important for the modern teacher, we raised our awareness on how significant it is to approach with interest and respect these differences which surround us and which we find ahead of us on a daily basis, without even noticing them. We felt like citizens of the world for a little bit!

I have been living on Poros for a short while and I joined the Screening Group and Katheti’s other activities with great interest. Katheti is a small but ambitious learning, socialization and culture incubator in our area, due to both Fay Orfanidou’s and her collaborators persistent efforts and work.

In November 2018, I attended the seminar “The Body as a Musical Instrument” with Larisa Iasonidou. As an educator, I make constant use of my voice and this seminar was an exceptional gift by Katheti to us who live in a rural area and we do not have easy access to that kind of events. The organization was great and the warm and friendly attitude of Fay Orfanidou, who hosted us at Katheti, made the whole experience really positive.

It was my first contact with an experiential learning workshop and I had great fun! I considered it of outmost importance both for educators in general as well as for all persons who contact people from various cultural backgrounds. The workshop was interactive and all persons participated in it; all opinions heard were different and really interesting. There was a warm atmosphere and the trainer was very pleasant. I am looking forward to the next seminar!

December 2018
In December 2018, I had the pleasure to participate in the experiential seminar on personal values organized at Katheti and I have to admit that I found myself in a warm and friendly space, where Anastasia Karouti facilitated an interesting experience with knowledge and empathy. Through games and activities we created a group atmosphere and we approached both our values but also the other group members’ values, we exchanged thoughts and views, we “saw” and we discussed various viewpoints and we were worked on the role an educator can play in helping students develop their self-awareness and recognize their values.

March 2019
As an educator, I attended a seminar on non-formal learning hosted at Katheti. The trainer offered a full experience to us and helped us broaden our horizons. It was a surprising experience to have in such a small place like Poros and I consider initiatives like Katheti, which can offer new opportunities and ideas, to be of great benefit to the local community. I wish you put the same enthusiasm in other activities, too. A big thank you for your initiatives. Keep up the good work!

Poros and Galatas have plenty of natural beauty to offer, however this is not enough. After a two-year stay in Galatas I finally had the opportunity to meet amazing people with creative ideas and willingness to try something different. I had a great time, I was moved, and I felt concerned by watching films along with the Screenings Group, films I wouldn’t choose to watch alone. I am looking forward to new activities, films, and members in our group.

I am really interested in volunteering and education, mainly training and I consider Katheti to be a great opportunity for me. I decided to communicate with Katheti and now we collaborate. I have received training and support by a mentor, feedback on materials I had already designed, as well as tools to make my lessons more interactive. I would like to thank Anastasia for her hospitality and for our direct communication.
