The response to “Passage” theater play
When people come together, trying to accomplish a common goal, they create miracles, big and small. Something like that happened with Katheti’s amateur theater group. Research in local history and improvisations brought inspiration to the group and “Passage” was created. The response to “Passage” theater play and its effect on the audience was the reward of the effort.
“Passage” theater play was an amateur documentary-theater performance. The play was the result of the workshop “Theater documentation of Poros, Troizinia and Methana”. It was presented on August 29th at the Open Theatre of Kameni Chora in Methana, on August 30th at the eco-glamping Odyssey in Galatas and on September 26th at Cine Diana on Poros.

The members of the theater group, dressed in white, each with a different solid color scarf and a few other props, left room for our imagination to create its preferred image for each story they presented.
The effect on the audience
The performance was attended by a total of more than 200 spectators. What was the response to “Passage” theater play by this audience? It stirred emotion and laughter, and received many positive comments. A spectator, Emmanouela, tells us her impressions of the performance: “I had the pleasure of being at Kameni Chora of Methana, at the stone theater, at a place where time has stopped. In this plain but so imposing landscape, I watched Katheti’s excellent theater play “Passage”, a special performance free from directorial or narrative intrepidities. A “Passage” through history, given with love, tenderness and respect to moments and events that characterized this place.”

Stories from our area and its people, that were collected and transformed into a play. And all this thanks to the passion of the group, which worked for about a year, under unfavorable conditions of confinement, due to the pandemic.
Sofia, who watched the play on Poros, says: “We could write for hours about this play. Suffice to say that Katheti’s amazing team has done an incredible work. The performance is a retrospection of the area’s past. Through various stories, we laughed, we welled up. We became wiser after all that “Passage” taught us. A thousand thumbs up to the girls who took us on a travel tonight. Thank you very much.”
Katheti, with this endeavor, has opened a door that will not close after one theater performance, but will continue to evolve. This door leads to the “Theater documentation of Poros, Troizinia and Methana”.
