The Small Buddies network
Katheti is a small, but growing, local organisation, which holds a deep interest in the sustainable development of our area. In order to achieve a higher level of effectiveness, we asked ourselves two questions: How will we grow? How will we strengthen our work? Our answer was to search for allies with a similar mindset. This resulted in Katheti joining forces with the Small Buddies network.
What is Small Buddies?
The Small Buddies network is an innovative project which assists new and small organisations in showcasing their work and creating communication channels. The Small Buddies project is implemented within the context of the Active Citizens Fund program, with CHALLEDU as the implementing body and KROMA, HETERART and MYRTILLO as partners.
The program’s aims
The program’s aims are the strengthening and support of civil society’s sustainability, as well as the highlighting of it’s role in promoting democratic processes. Additionally, it aims to increase citizens’ participation in the public sphere and to defend human rights.
17 reasons which unite us
It is clear that the practices we knew for many decades only lead to dead-ends now, with serious implications for all parts of our lives. Sustainable development is the only solution now. The sustainable development model sets out 17 goals which are directly linked with the quality of life we deserve.
Katheti, through its actions, is working towards many of these goals:
- Quality education
- Decent work and economic growth
- Reduced inequalities
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Responsible consumption and production
- Life below water – Sustainable use of sea resources
- Life on land – Sustainable use of land ecosystems
- Partnerships for the goals
Can you imagine a world where these goals are fulfilled? That is Katheti’s vision for our area and we have started to implement this vision in as many sectors as we can. Our actions expand into our area’s sustainable development, the recording of waste and beach clean-ups, as well as our objection to the creation of Organised Aquaculture Development Areas (ΠΟΑΥ) on Poros.
Additionally, we offer educational seminars for personal and professional development, such as on Digital Marketing, Soft Skills, Public Speaking, Internet Safety and Greek language lessons to immigrants’ children to assist in their integration in the school community.
It is a huge benefit that we now have the Small Buddies network on our side, as it brings us one step closer to the realisation of our vision.
