Volunteering and internship at Katheti
All of us here at Katheti work every day, eager to offer to our fellow human beings in any field we can. This means many different actions, that we could not carry out if we were not supported by people who believe in the idea of volunteering. In turn, Katheti offers the opportunity to students of various specialties to do their internship with us. Volunteering and internship at Katheti now follow parallel paths.
The idea of volunteering
Volunteering is based on the principle of altruism, solidarity and selfless giving. Concepts that in their practical application are translated into compassion, care and social well-being. A chain contribution to the alleviation of social, economic and environmental problems, which gives new content to all our lives and creates a better environment.
We might think that volunteering entails people who are in a position of power in relation to their fellow human beings, who have solved their own issues. But that is not the case. It needs people with sensitivities who, parallel to their willingness to offer, benefit and develop themselves. First of all, it connects us with people with the same interests as we. It creates friendships that last through time and it combines hard work with fun. It is fertile ground for developing new skills, gaining work experience and achieving multifaceted personal development.
Volunteering at Katheti
Katheti, as a non-profit organization, relied on volunteering from the beginning of our operation. With the help of our volunteers, we have organized and continue to organize many activities, such as art workshops, educational seminars and Greek language courses. We create theatrical performances and videos about the area, undertake environmental actions, write articles in Greek and English and promote school volunteering. In all this, we need your help. More volunteers mean more and varied actions. And, of course, we welcome suggestions for new actions, according to your skills.
Internship at Katheti
Katheti is connected to the Atlas platform. An online service that connects the institutions providing internships with the academic institutions. The platform is a single base for available internships in Greece. At the same time, it offers comprehensive information on issues related to the labor market and the first steps of students in it.
At the same time, Katheti began a collaboration with the University of Illinois to offer virtual global internships to its students. In summer of 2021, we had our first intern, Yuren, from China. He says that during his practice he faced challenges, acquired many skills and shared many memories. Very soon, Katheti will also offer in-person internship posts to University of Illinois students, who will also have the opportunity to get to know our area.
Here, in Katheti, so far, we fulfill our vision to offer to the area with the help of people who really care. Locals, people from other regions of Greece, even from abroad, who are worth mentioning by name. Below we present to you those of our volunteers who did not object to be mentioned by name:
