“To gaze upon thee, O sea, that I may not be satisfied from the mountain high above, smooth and blue, and inwardly be enriched by thy many riches.” These verses by Kostas Varnalis accompany the first photography exhibition of the local photography group “Passage”. The exhibition “Our Sea” is hosted at Katheti from 15 April to 24 May during working days from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Monday 15 April at 8:00 pm.

We grew up with the sea at our feet, we used to fish as children and we went swimming with our summer friends. We fell in love, laughed, danced and cried by the sea. Every day we use the boats or the bigger ships to move around and cross the sea passage that separates the island from the Peloponnese. How connected are we to the sea! This is the main reason why our team chose this particular photography theme. The photography group “Passage” was created in order to bring amateur photographers of our region together to share our knowledge, creating social bonds and activities through the art of photography.

At the same time, the photography group “Passage” participates in the exhibition “The Road Not Taken“, coordinated by iFocus in the the 15th PHOTOVISION 2024 & IMAGE + TECH Expo on April 7, 2024, at the Exhibition Center (Tae Kwon Do).

Katheti supports the art of photography and the photographic team of the region “Passage“. In the past, Katheti has organized photography exhibitions such as: “Sotiris Tavern“, “Athlesis” and the art exhibition “Bridges“. Some of the exhibitions were accompanied by albums showcasing local artists. Last summer, Katheti successfully hosted the art exhibition ”Transformations” as part of Poros Arts Festival. At the same time, Katheti showcased local photographers and created Calendars for 2021 and 2023.
