Christmas and its magic are dedicated to children, but also to those who feel like children. This Christmas, Katheti opens its doors for the first time to children and their parents to celebrate together. At the initiative of the hiking group ” Together we walk…”, we invite children and parents to create Christmas eco-friendly decorations and sing Christmas songs. The event will be held at Katheti on Tuesday, December 5 at 4:30 pm. Five days later, on Sunday December 10, we will walk through the pine forest of Kalauria and decorate a tree with our eco-friendly ornaments to celebrate World Mountain Day. The meeting point is at the western port of Poros (ferry boat dock), at 10:15 am, so that we can go to the spot at Kalauria where we will start the hike.

We create eco-friendly Christmas decorations

This holiday season we gather the little elves at Katheti and we create magical Christmas ornaments from ecological materials with the help of Mara Dimopoulou and Penny Stavrou. This Christmas, wood, oranges, cardboard and pine cones take on a new form with a little gold dust from the children’s magic hands. With respect for the environment and lots of imagination, we transform nature’s materials into gnomes, Christmas trees, stars and whatever other decorations emerge from the children’s creative imagination.

We hike together up the mountain

The Christmas celebration continues, but this time in the beautiful nature of our island. With the help and planning of the hiking group “Together we walk..“, we will walk on one of the paths of the pine forest of Kalauria. On Sunday December 10, World Mountain Day, we celebrate by walking on the “Fairies and Elves” trail. Hiking an easy 3-4 km trail, we will decorate a tree with the eco-friendly ornaments we have created, sing Christmas songs and celebrate the mountain and nature together. We kindly ask you to come with your own vehicles, so that we have enough places to transport us to the spot in Kalauria where the hike will start.

Through this and many other activities such as the “Christmas Ornaments Workshop“, last year’s Children’s Fest, the children’s performance “The Small Tailor of Words” and the presentation of the book “Do books actually talk?“, in collaboration with the local community, Katheti seeks to support and enhance the creativity and imagination of children.
