Stones that Talk and Tell Tales

25 May 24

Why do stones know as many stories as the moon? On Saturday 25 May at 7:00 pm at Katheti, we invite you all to the storytelling performance “Stones that Talk and Tell Tales” by Evi Gerokosta. The performance consists of stories from the oral tradition of the world and stories from Greek and world literature. Through storytelling, Evi Gerokosta wants to help those who listen to her stories to find their own favourite, the one that will speak to their hearts and awaken all that lies dormant within them. The performance is in Greek, lasts 1 hour and is for all ages. You can book a seat at info@katheti.gr or at + 30 22980 43825. Free entrance.

“When the moon is full, they say that someone enters

people’s homes. As soon as they fall asleep, they sit on the edge of their bed

and pulls out of their pocket a pouch full of stones.

The moon and the stones know a lot. They know about the seas and the

mountains, about trees and birds, they know about dreams.

Stories of stone for the young and the old.”

Evi Gerokosta was born and lives in Athens. She divides her time between translation, writing and storytelling. She has published five illustrated books for readers of all ages. She has been a professional narrator since 2003 and her performances are hosted in schools, libraries, bookstores, music venues, theaters, festivals, etc., in Greece and abroad, while she has translated more than 30 books for children and adults.

Through this and many other activities such as the “We create Christmas decorations and hike together“, Children’s Fest, the children’s performance “The Small Tailor of Words” and the presentation of the book “Do books actually talk?“, in collaboration with the local community, Katheti seeks to support and enhance the creativity and imagination of children. At the same time with theatrical performances, such as “The Small Tailor of Words”, “Passage”, and “The Story of a Dog Called Faithful”, Katheti aims to set in motion the creativity already existing in the local community as well as to support and strengthen local cultural expression.
