Katheti zooms in on Kostas Gakis and Natasha-Faii Kosmidou
Κostas Gakis is a musician, director and actor, while he has also studied history and archeology. Combining all of his attributes, he also acts as a group animator. Among other things, he has directed theater plays “Ιστορία χωρίς Όνομα” (Story without a Name) and “Ιστορία ενός σκύλου που τον έλεγαν πιστό” (Story of a dog who was called faithful). His collaborator Natasha-Faii Kosmidou is an actress, story teller and assistant director. Katheti zooms in on Kostas Gakis and Natasha-Faii Kosmidou, two versatile artists, who have a lot to tell us.
To live in the pulsating present
Κostas Gakis’ vision is to create platforms for communication between people, for the collection of stories and for building bridges. He believes that the main attribute that has helped him is music. He tells us: “When music comes into my plan everything gets in order”. And he goes on to talk about time and youth: “Often in our youth we postpone, but now is the time. It’s time to set your life on fire, to seize the day.”
Let’s bloom little by little all together
Natasha-Faii Kosmidou finds impetus in her need to speak. She tells us: “I want to convey stories that have something in common with what I want to say and with what the community needs to hear at that moment.” She finds the solution to everything that concerns us in coming together. So that in the end, as she states: “little by little, we all bloom together.”
There is a green island inside us
Kostas Gakis is connected to the wider region of the Saronic Gulf through the seminar “Hydra: A theater documentation”. The idea of Lemonodasos also connects him with the area. He tells us: “We hear Lemonodasos and think of a fantastic place with fairies and elves.”
The company of dreamers
Kostas Gakis and Natasha-Faii Kosmidou participate in the collective “Small alpha, a company of dreamers”, which is housed in the historic theater “Alpha” of Stefanos Linaios and Elli Fotiou. They are also members of the theater group “Anam(m)a”. In the summer, Kostas Gakis organizes seminars with ancient Greek drama and stories from Ikaria on Ikaria island. Together they have created the musical performance “Το ταξίδι του Ασίκη” (The journey of Asikis). For the play “Ιστορία ενός σκύλου που τον έλεγαν πιστό” (Story of a dog called faithful) Kostas Gakis expresses the desire to bring it close to nature, on a beach, around a fire. Katheti’s hope is to bring this extraordinary production to our area. Kostas Gakis, referring to Katheti and the company of dreamers, expresses a desire: “Let’s see what ways the two companies have to work together, because there are interesting things to do.”
The series of interviews “Kahteti zooms in on…” connects us with people who inspire with their thinking and attitude. Katheti zooms in on Kostas Gakis and Natasha-Faii Kosmidou, because they are two artists who live and work with vision, empathy and caring.
