Poros beaches
Summer is coming and it smells like sea! Sun, sandy beaches, clear, blue waters, taverns, beach bars, but also seclusion. Organized or free, nearby or remote, Poros beaches offer many different options.

Katheti highlights the beaches both for their special character and for their potential. They can combine leisure and activities in the context of sustainable tourism.
Organized and with lots of benefits!
Starting from the bridge between Sphaeria and Kalavria, towards the southeastern side of the island, we meet Kanali and busy Askeli. Two beaches with organized and free areas, taverns, cafes and beach bars.

Continuing, at the end of the road, is the Monastiri beach, with clear blue waters, organized and free areas and a restaurant.
From the bridge to the southwest side of the island, the pine trees merge with the sea and the first organized beach we meet is Mikro Neorio.

This is followed by the pine-covered Kalypso, with its beautiful view of the sunset.
After Kalypso beach we meet Megalo Neorio, an organized beach with beach bar, taverns, water sports and many swimming spots.

In a short distance from Megalo Neorio is Love Bay, embraced by a dense pine forest. Ideal beach for romance, but also for entertainment.
The last organized beach to the west is Russian Bay. The center of the beach is dominated by the 19th century ruins of the Russian’s Mediterranean fleet Naval Station and nearby is the island of Daskaleio, which you can reach swimming.

Free and beautiful!
On the other hand, the free beaches of Poros offer tranquility and relaxation.

Vagionia, on the northern part of the island, is surrounded by pine forest, has fine gravel and a rock from which you can dive. It is noteworthy that in the bay of Vagionia there is a sunken city. At the western end of the island, near the lighthouse of Dana, is Gerolimenas, with two completely free beaches.
The free beaches of Poros include Agios Stefanos. The only beach of Sphaeria, with easy access, very close to the road.
And they have no end…
In the continental part of the Municipality, there are two organized beaches. The first is Plaka, the port of Lemonodasos, with a beautiful sandy beach.

Very close is Aliki, with its shallow sandy waters and exquisite landscape, which combines the sea with a lagoon.
Following the road network, we meet Artimos, a free beach with clear waters and crystal-clear seabed.
Continuing, the first of the secluded beaches of the continental part of the Municipality is that of Karapoliti.

A little further, dirt roads lead to the beaches of Makrogianneika, Biseika, Harbila, Psili Ammos,
Tselevinia, Pergari and Soupia.
A group of free beaches, worth visiting for their crystal clear and turquoise waters.
Boufi beach is an option for those who seek something different. At a distance of twenty minutes from Galatas, oriented towards Hydra, if you manage to locate it, you will be compensated by the clear sea, the tranquility and the canteen that has been operating for years, offering meze produced and fished by its owner.

The article on the beaches of Poros is the first of a series of articles by Katheti for the whole area. The diversity of the place and its little secrets compose a unique landscape that is worth getting to know well. Nature, history, activities, local products. And the list goes on!
