Katheti is relocating
It’s finally time to move into our new home. As of the new year, Katheti is relocating to the “Kerras” building at Poros, the building that housed the “Sotiris” tavern for many years, a landmark for the island. And of course, we are not cutting ties with Galatas. Katheti’s space in Galatas will remain, to host workshops and many other activities.
“Sotiris” tavern
Kerras’ tavern has been a point of reference for Poros and the surrounding area and many locals have a story to tell about the tavern, the unforgettable evenings they spent there, as well as the important people who ate at its tables, such as Yannis Tsarouchis. What made the tavern stand out was its owner’s amazing collection, which included Navy uniforms and coats of arms, antiques, paintings and many other items.
The transformation of the space
Now that the building’s renovation work is completed, Katheti is relocating to a place full of local history, which gave us many carefree and unforgettable moments.
We are planing to transform this space into a versatile center of culture and knowledge. Already, the previous owner’s collection, as well as the interior of the building gave rise to one of the first photography exhibitions organized by Katheti. This was the exhibition “Sotiris Tavern-From Pounta to Galata” which took place in 2019, in collaboration with Vassilis Kolokythas.
Since then, Katheti has organized multiple exhibitions, such as the visual arts exhibition “Bridges” and the photography exhibition “Athlesis“, workshops, such as the theater documentation of Poros and Troizinia-Methana and the performance “Passage”. Katheti has also organized various seminars such as a three-day theater seminar “From the tribes of the world to our ‘tribe’”, but also seminars on soft skills, sports psychology, presentation and public speaking and entrepreneurship.
In the new year, Katheti is relocating and starts dynamically in a space with potential to expand its actions.
